چکیده
A search for charginos and neutralinos, predicted by supersymmetric theories, is performed using a data sample of 182.1 pb−1 taken at a centre-of-mass energy of 189 GeV with the OPAL detector at LEP. No evidence for chargino or neutralino production is found. Upper limits on chargino and neutralino pair production (χ̃1 χ̃ − 1 , χ̃ 0 1χ̃ 0 2) cross-sections are obtained as a function of the chargino mass (mχ̃± 1 ), the lightest neutralino mass (mχ̃0 1 ) and the second lightest neutralino mass (mχ̃0 2 ). Within the Constrained Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model framework, and for mχ̃± 1 −mχ̃0 1 ≥ 5 GeV, the 95% confidence level lower limits on mχ̃± 1 are 93.6 GeV for tanβ = 1.5 and 94.1 GeV for tan β = 35. These limits are obtained assuming a universal scalar mass m0 ≥ 500 GeV. The corresponding limits for all m0 are 78.0 and 71.7 GeV. The 95% confidence level lower limits on the lightest neutralino mass, valid for any value of tan β are 32.8 GeV for m0 ≥ 500 GeV and 31.6 GeV for all m0. (Submitted to Phys. Lett. We present a combined study of the muon anomalous magnetic moment, aμ ≡ (g− 2)μ/2, and b → sγ decay in the minimal supersymmetric standard model with gauge-mediated supersymmetry-breaking. Combining new experimental data on aμ and the branching ratio for b → sγ, useful limits on the parameter space of these models are derived. Bounds on supersymmetric particle masses as a function of tanβ are a...

The central challenge in particle physics is to explore the 1-TeV scale and elucidate the nature of electroweak symmetry breaking. A key element in this quest is the search for the Higgs boson, the agent of electroweak symmetry breaking in the standard electroweak theory. Uncovering the secrets of the Higgs sector is the focus of much present and future experimental research. The LEP 2 experime...

Scalar-isoscalar mesons are studied using an unitary model in three channels: ππ, KK and an effective 2π2π. All the solutions, fitted to the ππ and KK data, exhibit a wide f0(500), a narrow f0(980) and two relatively narrow resonances, lying on different sheets between 1300 MeV and 1500 MeV. These latter states are similar to the f0(1370) and f0(1500) seen in experiments at CERN. Branching rati...
